Job Summary: The purpose of a Neck Prepper is to remove all filler, paint, and glue from the fingerboard as well as sanding and polishing the frets. This job is accomplished through the meticulous use of spring steel blades and sandpaper. Neck Prep then prepares the guitar by taping the fingerboard so it can move to the next process.
Essential Functions:
- Learn and execute standard operating procedures.
- Remove fill and color from fingerboard.
- Able to use a razor blade safely and effectively.
- Correcting any minor defects such as scratches and dings with 320 grit sandpaper.
- 95% pass rate based on production requirements.
- Identify quality defects.
- Understands and meets quality standards (Specs.)
- Maintains product flow at appropriate rate.
- Adheres to department protocols (5S and Safety)
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Must be able to do repetitive motion with hand and wrist.
- Develop a strong knowledge of the different models.
- Outstanding time management skillset with the ability to prioritize without direct supervision.
- Teamwork and project management skills combined with ability to work as part of a team.
Education and Experience:
- Results oriented and driven, with a track record for delivering to plan.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to sit entire shift and lift guitars (up to 25lbs) throughout the day.
