The Gibson Custom Select Les Paul™ Custom, Heavy Aged, Nickel Hardware is a great example of where the Gibson Custom Modern Collection meets the Murphy Lab. Gibson Custom Select instruments are small-batch creations designed and handcrafted by the artisans at the Gibson Custom Shop. Guitars from the Gibson Custom Select Collection showcases exciting finishes, electronics, hardware, and other modifications that aren’t normally available and set them apart from the crowd. Guitars from the Gibson Custom Modern Collection are only available with Murphy Lab aged finishes through the Made to Measure program and Gibson Custom Select. Available in Classic White, Oxblood, and Ebony, this Les Paul Custom has modern features with a vintage appearance.

Resplendent with mother-of-pearl inlays and multi-ply binding, the Les Paul Custom is the tuxedo of solidbody electric guitars. The binding is completed one layer at a time, so patience and skill are required to glue each layer on top of each other. The bound ebony fingerboard’s mother-of-pearl block inlays give the neck a touch more elegance compared to the trapezoid inlays found on the Les Paul Standard, while the iconic split diamond inlay is showcased on the instrument’s enlarged headstock, with five-ply binding to complete the look. All these details add up to make the Les Paul Custom a seriously luxurious proposition.

With its weight-relieved body and Modern Medium C neck profile, this Les Paul Custom has the bones of a modern guitar with the look of a well-loved vintage instrument thanks to its Heavy Aged nitrocellulose finish, with areas of natural mahogany exposed on the back, the neck, and body. The blend of vintage and modern continues with Heavy Aged nickel hardware, a set of 490R and 498T humbucking pickups, and Grover® Kidney tuners.

This Gibson Custom Select Les Paul Custom’s mixture of modern features and a Heavy Aged finish makes for a unique combination, giving players who prefer modern appointments and contemporary sounds the opportunity to experience the look and feel of a vintage guitar.
