J-45 Standard in Grizzly Burst

This Gibson Custom Select J-45™ Standard in Grizzly Burst features a brand-new finish as well as a plethora of other hand-selected features. Gibson Custom Select shows what is possible through Dealer Select and Made to Measure programs. These guitars have hand-picked features such as unique tonewoods and custom finishes on existing models. Gibson Custom Select guitars are designed by Gibson experts, and these guitars are made in small batches by skilled artisans in Bozeman, Montana. This J-45 Standard features gold hardware, a bearclaw spruce top, a striped ebony bridge and fretboard, a custom Grizzly Burst finish, and more details from head to toe on this guitar.

The Gibson J-45 is one of the most recorded acoustic guitars in history. With its spruce top and mahogany back and sides, the model is perfect for the singer-songwriter with its short scale length. Fitted with simple dot inlays, no neck binding, and a simple rosette, the J-45 is everything that is needed for a top-performing acoustic guitar. Models like the Southern Jumbo have included more ornamentation like neck binding and split parallelogram inlays to dress up the utilitarian guitar. The J-45 is where the slope-shoulder design started, which has influenced countless guitars since its introduction.

This Gibson Custom Select J-45 Standard is covered in custom features from head to toe. Starting at the body of the guitar, the top is made from bearclaw spruce, which is rare to find on any acoustic guitar. This figured spruce has streaks and chevrons across the entire top of the guitar. The Grizzly Burst finish embellishes the figured nature of the bearclaw spruce top, still retaining a subtle aesthetic. Striped ebony replaces the normal rosewood bridge and fretboard, which is only available through Gibson Custom Select and Made to Measure. Moving on to the neck of the guitar, the absence of typical dot inlays allows the striped ebony fretboard to stand out beautifully. This simplistic approach to design allows the bearclaw spruce top to be the center of attention; it’s rare to find this figured tonewood. The headstock features an inlaid script Gibson logo and binding around the outside. Neither of these features is found on a normal J-45 Standard.

Customized from top to bottom, this Gibson Custom Select J-45 Standard will catch the eye of those who appreciate acoustic guitars with custom appointments and a unique set of features. With a figured bearclaw spruce top, a brand-new finish from Gibson, and a custom headstock, this guitar is a unique offering from Gibson. Finished off with gold hardware, this guitar has an aesthetic that is akin to a Grizzly Bear’s fur, which is how the finish was named. This unique set of features combines rare and standout features while retaining simplicity, which is what makes the J-45 so beloved across the world. Included with the guitar is a hardshell case and a Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity
