J-45 Standard Cobra Burst
Gibson Custom Select J-45 Standard acoustic-electric guitar with a striped ebony bridge and fretboard

J-45 Standard in Cobra Burst
This Gibson Custom Select J-45™ Standard features a Cobra Burst finish, which brings a contemporary aesthetic to a time-tested design. Also featured on this special J-45 Standard are gold hardware and a striped ebony bridge and fretboard. These are the types of upgrades and customizations that can be found in the Gibson Custom Select range. Gibson Custom Select is a collection of instruments where customized specifications are applied to historic and modern instruments. These specifications are hand-picked by Gibson’s experts, which makes every one of these guitars a special and unique instrument that will be different from the rest of the crowd.
The Gibson J-45, typically called the “Workhorse” of Gibson’s acoustic guitar range, gained its name from being used tirelessly on the road and in the studio. The classic combination of a Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides brings a balanced tone that has been familiar for decades. Played by legends from Bob Dylan to Margo Price, the Gibson J-45 is clearly loved by many. The original design of the guitar has been refined for the modern players of today, but the J-45 Standard still retains the core appointments of the guitar initially released over 80 years ago.
Usually finished in Vintage Sunburst, the J-45 Standard typically follows a traditional line of specifications. The Cobra Burst finish has a unique characteristic where the woodgrain is cross-hatched with the wood from the pre-staining process. The burst is achieved by spraying a darker shade around the perimeter of the guitar, which makes this finish a bit of a hybrid when it comes to the finishing process. Striped ebony is used on the bridge and fretboard, which replaces the rosewood that is normally used on the J-45 Standard. Ebony is rare to find on any traditionally outfitted Gibson acoustic guitar, but this smooth tonewood can be found on guitars like the SJ-200 Custom. Gold hardware also replaces the typical nickel hardware, which brings a bit more flash and class to the guitar. With all these unique specifications combined, this Gibson Custom Select J-45 Standard makes this tried-and-true model into a fresh, modern aesthetic.
These customized, modern appointments bring the classic Gibson J-45 Standard into the 21st century to fit in with today’s players. The Cobra Burst finish paired with a classy striped ebony bridge and fretboard topped with gold hardware makes this J-45 Standard stand out from the normal sunburst models that can be seen on stages all over the world. All these features are only possible through Gibson Custom Select and the Made to Measure program, which makes this J-45 Standard a rare sighting for any Gibson fanatic. Included with this Gibson J-45 is a hardshell case and a Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity.
