Job Summary
The Production Control Scheduler is responsible for covering the planning, scheduling, releasing, and tracking of workflow throughout the manufacturing facility in a way that maximizes shipments and properly manages inventory. This position studies backorders, current and future orders, daily order entry, historical sales, then applies the sales and order information, along with a knowledge of available materials, and a knowledge of production processes and limitations, correlates the planning data and builds easy to understand spreadsheets, copies, assembles, distributes, and further prepares the spreadsheet schedule for the manufacturing floor. This position will be the focal point in creating a production scheduling system. The Production Control Scheduler creates, tracks, and reports on the current production status of all production components. This position functions as a liaison between Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Shipping/Receiving Teams. It is a focal point among all departments to effectively communicate and help meet project requirements.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Main duties
Planning
- Function as the focal point in creating a production schedule using the best combination of intra company reporting system and Excel. The production scheduler’s purpose is to provide a means to track and manage daily manufacturing workload, provide feedback to sales and dealers about estimated shipping and availability, and provide regular reporting on manufacturing status within the facility. The production scheduler will provide an in-depth audit on production requirements, manufacturing capacity, schedule size, and workforce size
- Monitors, analyzes, and reports performance to schedule of production activities utilizing information derived from material and production control systems
- Coordinate with supervisors, project managers and production to sequence manufacturing, assembly, and installation
- Assist the manufacturing department to actively manage the production schedule
- Research and assign manufacturing times and due dates as needed
- Coordinate with departments and project managers as needed to identify and resolve issues regarding materials, budget and delivery dates
- Monitor quality, service, and delivery issues, and take corrective actions as needed
- Identify and resolve supplier and internal errors that result in budget or schedule discrepancies
- Provide continual improvement of the planning and reporting processes
- Works closely with New Product and Made to Measure coordinators to fulfill launch and delivery commitments.
Releasing
- Analyze project information and requests, then effectively communicate the requirements to purchasing and manufacturing personnel
- Generates daily production schedule for high mix, high volume production environment
- Confirms schedule accuracy and feasibility through constraint evaluation and cross functionals teamwork
- Accurately maintain part-master database in Gibson’s MRP system
- Correctly assess whether required parts can be issued, aid Purchasing in efficiently acquiring necessary materials just-in-time as to control Raw Materials and Work-in-Process Inventories
- Accurately develop and maintain complex master bills-of-material
- Research order and delivery discrepancies and resolve MRP related issues. Take appropriate corrective actions to prevent similar issues
- Reproduce schedules and assemble planning data packets complete with completion dates and instructions for subsequent operations
- Distribute assembled schedule packages and schedule-change-notices among departments
- Stay informed of current projects, manufacturing workload, and manufacturing processes
- Function as the focal point to move towards a more efficient system of division manufacturing. The goal is continual improvement of the processes being utilized
Miscellaneous
- Coordinate and manage special projects as required
- Occasionally visit customers’ sites to present Gibson’s capabilities and to gather information on projects
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and ethics codes and ensure that they are communicated and implemented within each project
- Perform other duties as assigned to insure the success of projects, individuals, and the company
Other duties
- Coordinates and builds strong working relations with various internal organizations including Finance, IT, Sales, Marketing and Production
- Attend and support trade shows, dealer meetings and end user visits as necessary
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Training product specialists and sales staff when needed
- Employee can be asked to perform other duties that are reasonable within the area of expertise

Knowledge
- Knowledge of Visual Manufacturing or other MRP/ERP systems
Preferred Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a technical field along with 5+ years’ experience in planning/scheduling
- Experience working within a high-quality manufacturing environment a plus
