Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced, passionate, and creative Social Media Director to join our team. The Social Media Director reports directly to Beth Heidt, VP of Cultural Influence, and will be responsible for developing and implementing our Social Media strategy and managing our Social Media team to increase and enhance our online presence. They will establish clear brand voice(s) while creating plans to reach ever growing target audiences, all while improving our marketing and sales efforts with traffic conversion and monetization of digital channels. You will be working closely with Marketing, ER, Product and Sales departments. A willingness to dive deep into the details while keeping an eye on the bigger picture will be critical to finding pragmatic solutions. A demonstrated ability to work as part of a team while also leading and experience working in a fast-paced, multi-functional, and international team are required. This is a global role that will create global/HQ strategies to then regionalize with teams for maximum impact in their territories. 

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, implement, and direct our social media strategy.
  • Develop, mentor, and manage the social media team. 
  • Define most important social media KPIs.
  • Manage and oversee social media content, track growth and impact per channel.
  • Measure the success of every social media campaign.
  • Develop plans with regional marketing teams to grow their social media platforms into industry defining channels.
  • Deliver social media content, which is engaging and informative for a global audience, delivered at a regional level.
  • Develop global reporting standards for all channels including KPIs and benchmarks for success.
  • Coach, guide, and mentor regional marketing teams
  • Stay up to date with latest social media best practices and technologies.
  • Use social media marketing tools such as Sprout Social. 
  • Attend educational conferences.
  • Work with photographers, videographers, copywriters, and designers to ensure content is informative and appealing.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, ER, Sales and Product Development teams on leading stories and product launch strategies.
  • Monitor SEO and user engagement and suggest content optimization.
  • Communicate with industry professionals and influencers via social media to create a strong network and engagement. 
  • Establish best practices and process for community management with customer service and social teams. 
  • Adhere to legal rules and regulations.
  • Present insights, trends, analytics and KPI dashboard regularly to Senior Management

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated success building brand loyalty, expanding consumer acquisition funnels, and driving consumer engagement through social media direct to consumer strategies.
  • Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics
  • Good understanding of social media KPIs
  • Familiarity with web design and publishing

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Social Media Director or similar role
  • Proven record of success working in Social Media role using social media for brand awareness and impressions.
  • Excellent knowledge of all major social media platforms, including YouTube, and firm grasp of social media best practices.
  • Deep knowledge of music industry with strong existing knowledge of Gibson family of brands. 
  • Proven experience supporting growth through transparency, consistency, and disciplined execution.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation, with a track record for delivering to plan.
  • Experience with doing audience and buyer persona research.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • This position is mostly office based, but may involve irregular travel for special events or key meetings (approx. 5%)
