The Gibson Dual Falcon 20’s sound, simplicity, and cabinet were all inspired by the cult-classic Gibson Falcon amps from the early 1960s. However, while it might look like a vintage piece of gear, the Falcon is a fresh design from the founder of MESA/Boogie®, Randall Smith, in partnership with the MESA/Boogie Design Team. Gibson Amplifiers are handcrafted in Petaluma, California, and set the bar for low-wattage tone with modern features for today’s players.

Powered by a matched pair of 6L6 power amp tubes, the Dual Falcon 20 produces 15 watts of pure tube tone. But if you don’t want to overwhelm the rest of the band or need to dial things back for home recording or rehearsals, the Dual Falcon 20’s Multi-Watt™ Power and Duo-Class™ wiring allows players to select between Full, Half, or Low (15, 6, or 2-watts) power modes separately for each of the two channels. Using optional 6V6 power tubes delivers 12, 5, and 1-watt across the three power modes. All this power is sent to a pair of 10” Jenson® Blackbird speakers, which deliver a very different flavor in comparison to the 1x12 Gibson Falcon 20. While they are not as common in guitar amplifiers as 12” speakers, 10” speakers have a significant following and have been used in numerous legendary models over the years.

Other key features of the Dual Falcon 20 include onboard tube-driven spring reverb and all-tube tremolo for authentic vintage-style effects. A useful additional feature is the ¼” Monitor Out, which captures the entire sound of the amplifier from the preamp and power amp sections and provides a padded send. This has myriad uses, from feeding a parallel signal to a console or external processor in recording scenarios to using in conjunction with additional power amplifiers to drive extra cabinets for larger stage applications.
