The CAD Designer will support engineering duties in designing, modeling, and drafting electro-mechanical parts and assemblies, tooling, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. The CAD Designer will work closely with the Mechanical Engineer to achieve proper form, fit and function of the mechanical portions of Pro Audio products for Gibson.
Essential Functions
- Assist Mechanical and Electrical engineers in the design and definition of products using SolidWorks CAD software. Demonstrate proficiency with Solidworks 2021 or newer (Top down and bottom up design philosophy, part and assembly models).
- Participate in team collaboration, brainstorming and design reviews.
- Create renderings for visualization of products.
- Create fabrication drawings (GD&T is a plus).
- Create assembly drawings with Bill of Materials.
- Use 3-D printer to create physical prototypes of new product prototypes.
- Generate Drawings, BOMs, Component libraries, etc.
- Create and evaluate models of alternate designs to assess feasibility, possible new applications, and necessity of modification.
- Attend preliminary meetings with the client to understand the project specifications and scope.
Other duties
While the CAD Designer must be technically proficient in executing the responsibilities noted above, tasks of equal value may be required:
- Building and assembling proof of concept and prototype models
- Working with machinery in a shop environment
- Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Providing progress updates and completion date estimates to project managers
- Employee can be asked to perform other duties that are reasonable within the area of expertise
- Get feedback from project managers, and revise designs as needed

Education and Experience
- Associate degree or equivalent experience in design, engineering, or similar field is preferred
- Minimum 2 years of design experience, preferably in consumer products
- Knowledge of design standards related to die-casting, molding, and sheet metal forming.
- Knowledge of GD&T.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD applications, especially Solidworks.
- Good work ethic and a passion for audio and music.
- Good organizational, decision-making, human relations, and communication skills.
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Travel Requirements
- Periodic domestic and international travel to and between the company’s development and manufacturing locations will be required (5-10%)
