Gibson Acoustic’s Feature Guitar: Songwriter Deluxe Cutaway

Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Cutaway

When designing and building the Songwriter Deluxe Cutaway, Gibson Acoustic was met with a particular challenge: how to provide both traditional Gibson tone and the warmth that characteristically comes from a vintage instrument with the features that today’s players demand. The final product, Gibson’s Songwriter Deluxe Cutaway, delivers the best of both worlds.

Modeled after the body styles of the famed Gibson Hummingbird and Dove guitars, the Songwriter Deluxe Cutaway’s modified “square shoulder” dreadnaught body shape goes back to the early ’60s and is unmatched for its warmth and definition. Gibson anchored that body with traditional hand-scalloped bracing in a “wide-X” pattern that dates back to the ’30s. This unique bracing makes this guitar one of the most powerful on the market, yet capable of the most subtle inflection. Coupled with a hand set neck, double-dovetail neck joint, radiused top, and hand rubbed lacquer finish, all of Gibson’s traditional guitar building hallmarks are there.

Today’s players have come to appreciate the Songwriter Deluxe Cutaway’s modern features: a built-in Fishman Prefix T preamp with under saddle transducer, a rounded cutaway for easy access even to the highest frets, and a radiused fingerboard edge that makes for faster playability and more comfort than ever before.
