From Lovely NYC
07.30.2007- CST
Hey Hey!
I write to you today from the lovely NYC. We've been here doing press and visits surrounding the launch of "our" commercial. As you may have seen and heard... our song "Because I'm Awesome" AND our mugs are a big part of Kohl's back to school campaign for this year. When we heard the premise of the campaign -that we inspire a group of kids to start a band- we we're so excited. I mean, that's why we do this. Sure the groupies, booze, fame and drugs (just kidding!) are cool but what will really make us happy down the road? Exactly that sort of thing. We're just really excited about how the spot turned out. AND excited that millions of people are hearing our song. We've been on the road for years and exposure like this is crazy because 1 airing of this commercial on MTV will probably reach more kids than 5 years of busting our butts on tour. It's strange and cool all at the same time. Oh and we got to do an interview on Fuse's "The Sauce!" AND they played our video! It was really "saucesome", or at least that was the name we came up with on the spot with the supernice host, Jared. Hopefully the interview will end up on the web soon for all that missed it the first or second times around.
The past couple months have been pretty neatO. We've been doing a lot of meeting and greeting and performances for all the people who have worked on the spot as well as regular shows. That means a lot of traveling and the need for different instruments in different situations; acoustic guitars for smaller appearances, electric guitars in the commercial & at "normal" shows, & rad Slingerland drums too. Gibson has been AWESOME! They are always there to loan us whatever we need and it's always a BEAUTIFUL, quality instrument. So how cool that we can say THANK YOU GIBSON in our Gibson blog! Yep!
Well this is my only afternoon off in NY so I'm going to cut it short so I can go to Canal Street and buy some cheap new accessories and socks. We haven't done laundry in a while.
Xoox
Yeah, you're awesome.
