A No Circus song

10.09.2007- CST

While I was sitting, and wondering what I could write a blog about, I realized that talking about how we write songs might be an interesting topic. Recently we wrote a song called Rock n Roll Fever. Lame name, we're probably going to rename it, but here's how we wrote the song.

I was sitting around playing guitar and messed up on another song we wrote called One Of These Days (give a listen to the live recording of that song at www.myspace.com/nocircus ). The funny thing was that I liked how the goof-up sounded, so I changed the rhythm and built a rift around the part I liked. Me and the guys played it over with me howling improved words over the top of it. Honestly at first we didn't feel the song too much, but then I saw and heard a video of Peolo Nutini, oddly enough, doing his single "New Shoes". The beat was good so we got inspired to add a simple pop beat to our raw rock song. The result was a Black Dog "esque" song with an up beat dance rhythm.

The final and hardest part of any song we write are the lyrics. Songs about liquor, love and girls are great but we've done that before so in this song we decided to write about what we all want to do with our lives, play music.

We'll record the song some day so you can all hear it, but for now you'll just have to come out for one of our shows.
