Billy Corgan is always full of surprises, and the latest one comes in the form of an artist the Smashing Pumpkins frontman admires.

During an interview on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the chatter turned to music and songwriting, and Corgan dished that he's a fan of Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger's writing.

"He's an incredible songwriter," Corgan exclaimed.

Corgan went on to say that he admires Nickelback for what they do so well, which is write "satisfying" pop songs.

"I don't think there's anything wrong if that's who they want to be," Corgan said. "Pop, to me, is predicated on satisfying."

When he hasn't been praising Kroeger, Corgan has been busy with his latest solo project. He recently unleashed new solo album, Ogilala, under the name William Patrick Corgan. As for what's next for the Pumpkins, only time will tell.
